How to Buy a Forklift for Your Business

So you’ve decided to buy a forklift. You’ve weighed up the options, compared diesel, gas, petrol and electric and you have made up your mind. But there are still a few steps to take. You’ve actually got to buy it now.

Just like all major new investments, the process of buying a forklift can be daunting. Here at Aussie Forklift Sales, we’re all about helping our customers. That’s why we’ve developed this easy guide to purchasing a new or used forklift.

Contact the Dealer

The first step is to contact your dealer and let them know that you’re in the market for a new or used forklift. At this point, a quality dealer will step in and make the process easy for you.

They’ll invite you to the showroom or warehouse and you’ll be able to take your pick from the available vehicles.

Enquire about After Sales Service

Buying a forklift is one thing, but it’s important to know your options after you’ve made a purchase.

A good forklift dealer will offer extensive warranties. They will also offer a full measure of aftercare service and maintenance. The best companies will even have their own fleet of service repair vans, fully equipped and ready to come to your business at a moment’s notice.

Finance?

Not having the power to purchase upfront is sometimes a part of business, especially as businesses begin to grow and scale up.

Thankfully, the majority of forklift dealers will have a finance option. You’ll sit down or have a phone call with their broker and come to a finance agreement that’s beneficial for both of you. If you’d rather not get your finance from the dealer, that’s fine. There are other options.

A Business Loan

If you have a good relationship with your bank of choice, a business loan may be another option. If you’d rather avoid financing through your forklift dealer, this is a pathway to consider.

Approach your branch and let them know you’ve decided to invest in your business with a forklift. They’ll want to help you and they will come up with a loan and interest rates that are suitable to your specific needs. Remember to do your research and compare lenders if you decide on this option. Always seek professional financial advice before making a decision.

Finalise the Sale

Money will exchange hands, either physically or digitally, and you’ll have some paperwork to complete. After that, your forklift is yours.

It’s now time to get it to your business. A good dealer will deliver it right to your warehouse or storeroom, where you’ll be able to put it to use immediately. You’ll be able to save time moving stock, save money and employee time on manual handling, and the gears will start to shift for your business.
